Gone but not forgotten

When you are told by everyone that you wedding day will be the happiest day of your life but you are sad because your mum or dad or sibling has passed away and cannot be there on your day, it is tempting to run away and elope to escape the situation. How do you cope with the death of a close family member and include them in your wedding without being morbid or upsetting other members of your congregation and yourselves? You can still show that your loved ones are in your thoughts without including any sombre or sad moments.

For more advice on this topic including poems, readings and song lyrics for remembering the deceased visit

Money as a gift

Nowadays many couples have a home together before they get married and this can have restrictions on the wedding gift list. Here are some ideas to kindly ask for money or a contribute.

Poem to enclose with invitation

More than just kisses so far we've shared,
Our home has been made with Love and Care,
Most things we need we've already got,
And in our home we can't fit a lot!
A wishing well we thought would be great,
(But only if you wish to participate),
A gift of money is placed in the well,
Then make a wish,  but shhh don't tell!
Once we've replaced the old with the new,
We can look back and say it was thanks to you!
And in return for your kindness, we're sure
That one day soon you will get what you wished for.

David & Claire have registered with Thomsons travel. If you would like to help make their honeymoon dreams come true you can contribute via....etc (add details here)

We have been living together for some 12 years now and have everything a home could need, however, if you feel you would like to purchase something we would greatly appreciate Lunn Poly travel vouchers!!

Guest book and Camera card wordings

I think every couple should have a guest book at their reception. It allows guest to write advice and special messages for you to treasure.  Our guest books are £20 and can be personalised with your chosen design, names and wedding date and any message or love poem inside.

If you are placing disposable cameras on the tables why not add a small card with one of the following poems.  Camera cards start from 65p each for an A6 flat card

On this table you will find
our wedding guest book for you to sign.
Please take a moment on a page so bare
a sentiment or two to share.
Please use a page for each of you
so that we may know your feelings true.
This little book will serve as we
keep it forever in loving memory.

A precious collection of memories, this guest book is meant to be.  Take your time and collect your thoughts, then write them down for posterity.  You might choose words of wisdom, encouragement or a joke.  Possibly a poem, a funny drawing or a wedding anecdote.  Whatever your means of _expression, our gratitude we cannot measure.
This guest book will be, no doubt, an heirloom we will treasure.

Please write a message in this book,
for the bride and groom to treasure.
These memories will keep our day alive,
bringing joy we cannot measure.
Your good wishes will be kept secure
bound up within this book,
and once in a while we'll open it
and take another look.

This day for us is special
a time beyond compare
the joy we feel in our hearts
we’re glad our guests can share.
Now share with us your marriage tips
for a long and happy life
Present us with your words of wisdom
to help us as man and wife

Please help us to capture some memories of this special occasion, by passing this camera around for everyone to take a few pictures.
When it is finished, please leave the camera on the table for us to collect & have developed.
Thank you for sharing our celebration.

I’m your camera - so have some fun
you’ll make our album a special one.
Snap away as best you can
then hand me over to the Best Man

 Here's a camera
Please use it a lot
to take pictures of the things
the photographer will not

Take this camera and have some fun
Get some pictures of everyone.
Maybe you'll see something we didn't see
that we can keep as a memory

 To celebrate this special day
Pick up a camera and really play.
Leave it on the table when you're through
so we can develop the photos taken by you.

Please use this camera as much as you like,
Take photos of the reception or later tonight,
We want lots of memories and this is the best way,
To include you in this our very special day.
